Preparing for a neurology appointment

3 min read

What to bring, what to ask and how to make a short consultation count.

Consultations are short. Arrive with a written list of your top three concerns, in priority order.

Bring: a family history sketch, previous reports, your current medicine list, the shoes and braces you use daily, and a screening summary such as the one CMT Veda AI produces.

Useful questions: What subtype do you suspect and how would we confirm it? Should I have nerve conduction studies or genetic testing? Which therapies — physio, orthotics, occupational therapy — should I be referred to? Are there medicines I should avoid? Are there trials or registries relevant to me?

Ask for a copy of the consultation note. Keeping your own records is one of the most useful things a patient can do in a chronic condition.
